Revelation 19:20 And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone. As we covered in our previous section, during the 1000-year reign of Christ Jesus the False Prophet and the Antichrist reside in the Lake of Fire (Revelation 19:20.) And as we also covered in our previous section, at the start of the 1000-year reign of Christ Jesus on earth, the chief adversary (Satan) was chained and imprisoned in the abyss of Sheol until the 1000 years have ended. But at the end of the 1000 years, Satan is loosed from his imprisonment in the abyss. Revelation 20:1 And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. 2 And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years, 3 And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season. Revelation 20:7 And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison, 8 And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog, and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea. 9 And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them. AFTER the chief adversary (Satan) deceives the nations once more and they are defeated, the chief adversary is then cast into the Lake of Fire joining the False Prophet and Antichrist who are already there. It is also important to note that the chief adversary is cast into the Lake of Fire BEFORE the final judgment at the Great White Throne of God. Revelation 20:10 And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever. 11 And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. 12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. Revelation 20:11-15 tells us that AFTER the 1000-year reign of Christ Jesus on earth is completed, THEN all men, great and small will appear before God's Great White Throne to be judged. Revelation 20:15 and 21:8 tell us the outcome of that judgment. Revelation 20:15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire. Revelation 21:8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death. So, in addition to the False Prophet and Antichrist who are cast into the Lake of Fire at the start of the 1000-year reign of Christ, and the chief adversary (Satan) who is cast into the Lake of Fire after the millennial reign, AFTER the judgment, all the wicked will be cast into the Lake of Fire as well. And there they will all remain for all eternity. Thus, in this fourth division of time, we see the chief adversary is let out of the abyss of Sheol. Then we see that after a short season of deception, the chief adversary is cast into the Lake of Fire. Then Final Judgment takes place and the wicked dead are cast into the Lake of Fire. That concludes the location changes to "hell" during the fourth and final division of time that we've covered in our study. We will now turn our attention to the issue of heaven during this division of time, starting with the Final Judgment. Back to the top.
